At Besins Healthcare, we believe our strength comes from our people. Through the BH People Series, we share the stories of colleagues who contribute to our success in many different ways.

Today, we are pleased to introduce Alexandra Charles, Commercial Operations Director for the UK & Ireland, who has recently received the "Outstanding Leadership” Award, a recognition of her strong leadership and positive impact on her team and the company.

What is the "Outstanding Leadership” Award?

The "Outstanding Leadership” Award is an external award, given by the Pf Award independent judges, part of the well-known Pharmaceutical Field (Pf) Awards.
These awards are one of the most recognized in the UK pharmaceutical industry, celebrating individuals who demonstrate exceptional leadership, performance, and the ability to inspire and support others.

This is not an internal Besins award, but a prestigious recognition from the broader pharma sector — which makes Alexandra’s achievement even more impressive!

Her leadership recognition is built on:

- Putting patients & customers first

- Keeping teams motivated, even in challenging times

- Building resilience in herself and others

- Helping people grow and develop

- Encouraging teamwork and collaboration

About Alexandra’s Journey

Alexandra joined Besins Healthcare in February 2021 and has been leading the UK & Ireland commercial team with great dedication and energy.

Balancing work and life — Alexandra’s approach to leadership

For Alexandra, leadership is not just about achieving business goals — it’s also about being present for the people who matter most.

“Juggling the responsibilities of being a mother to two young boys, managing my career, and prioritising my wellbeing is no easy feat. However, I’m fortunate to work for a company that truly values the whole person and understands the importance of flexibility. The ability to work from home a couple of days a week, pick my kids up from school, and attend their performances makes all the difference in balancing my professional and personal life. It’s challenging at times, but when you're doing what you love, it’s all worth it."

She also hopes to set an example for her children:
"I want my boys to grow up with a strong female role model, so they can understand the value of equality and be part of a more inclusive, open-minded future."

Congratulations, Alexandra!
